| On Friday 30
September, to coincide with Europe’s premier music industry
convention, In The City, Manchester sees the launch of a new
record company dedicated to finding and developing the cream
of independent music makers in the north west. Sushi Records’
mission is to find and develop the next generation of Manchester’s
rich musical legacy.
Twelve months of research and development
comes to fruition when Sushi Records announces its arrival
on the Manchester music scene. Dave Roberts
(Label Manager), Nicky Ford (Label Manager),
Nigel Lund (A+R) and Spencer Jacobs
(Head of Media Liason) are determined to bring the Sushi ethos
of hard work and integrity to an industry seen by many as
contrived and controlled by financial considerations.
Co-founder and label manager Dave Roberts
believes that Sushi will mark a significant milestone in the
history of the Manchester music scene. His vision is to build
Sushi Records into an organization that nurtures and develops
talented artists and musicians throughout the city. Make no
mistake, this is not just about units sold. His mission is
clear:
| “This city has produced
some of the most innovative and original sounds of the
last thirty years and I believe there is as much talent
out there today as there ever was. Our job is to find
them and bring them to the public’s attention” |
Sushi begins life from offices in Millgate
Lane, Didsbury. The initial projects are in place but the
staff at Sushi, are constantly on the look out for bands and
artists with the four key ingredients. If you have talent,
tenacity, honesty and a hard work attitude then Sushi could
be the perfect home for your music.
