Chaz Newton Smith - Exhibition at Didsbury Life Offices April 2010

Originally from Bristol, Chaz developed his painting skills whilst studying for a degree in Fine Art in Northampton. Chaz moved to Manchester five years ago and has been focusing his work mainly on large landscapes. Chaz paints big urban landscapes with lots of power and punch. They tend to be about what he is feeling and where he has been. Big canvases and big brush marks.

His recent works have been inspired by Manchester scenes and some include Old Trafford football ground. Even though he is a Liverpool fan, his father in-law loves Manchester United so he thought it would go down well...

Currently living in Chorlton with his wife, Chaz has a studio where he works on his large canvasses. As well as painting in his studio Chaz also teaches oil painting in Hulme through a ten week course.
