Mark Nelson : Photographer

Mark Nelson is a 42-year-old (the age is important) photographer from Chester, Cheshire, UK. He took up digital photography only 2 years ago after hitting 40, see it as a mid-life crisis.
Unfortunately, unlike forming a band, having a tattoo or buying a motorcycle he has come to realise that the particular hobby he has chosen as a means to escape the drudgery of the day job – working as an Editor in Bollington, near Macclesfield – is probably one of the most expensive.
In May 2009, thanks to the generosity of his family the preceding Christmas, he spent a marvellous, informative day with professional photographer. This improved his photography no end and has prompted him to take photography more seriously. Although he doesn’t expect it to lead to a career change (although it would be nice) his short-term plan is to maybe sell or license some of his images in order to fund his hobby.
In his photography Mark seeks to find the beauty in the mundane and differences in the over familiar. In addition, Mark writes the blog ‘Confessions of an Amateur Photographer, which can be found here: http://zardoz67.wordpress.com. The blog documents his attempts to get to grips with the digital medium and was recently chosen from hundreds of thousands of blogs to feature on the Wordpress home page. With this small exhibition he feels that his 15 minutes of fame have arrived (not counting his appearance on The Weakest Link).
Mark has recently held a very successful exhibition at Didsbury Life - his work is very much talked about and the exhibition has led to Mark shooting a number of projects for our sister company, www.wearelife.co.uk. Additional work by Mark can be viewed under the News section of this profile. We discovered Mark via Twitter and are realy pleased to say that as well as finding an amazingly talented photographer, we've also found a lovely friend. The power of Twitter!
Mark's work is for sale - all of his recently exhibited prints are mounted and framed to a very high standard. Prices begin at £65 - for enquiries please contact Didsbuy Life on 0161 445 7759.
