Rock Over Climbing
Unclimbed Peak ascended in Krygyzstan
David Gladwin and I managed to climb 5 new routes and 1 unclimbed mountain on an extremely successful and adventurous expedition to Kyrgyzstan.
The main prize of our trip was a first ascent of the North Ridge of Kizil Asker 5500m. This climb took 3 days and included the hardest climbing either of us had ever undertaken. It was a mixture of snow, rock and ice. It included two nights on the ridge, one of which was on the summit in a major storm with temperatures down to minus 30!!!!!!
We also climbed two short rock routes and two other long snow and ice routes on what was an amazing trip to a former communist state. Kyrgyzstan offers a wealth of history, culture, friendly people and amazingly beautiful landscapes.
Due to our success we have been ask to present at the prestigious Kendal Mountain Film Festival.
