Mending Broken Hearts - an exhibition in aid of the British Heart Foundation

2011 is the British Heart Foundation’s 50th birthday, and to celebrate, a fantastic array of leading contemporary artists have created original artworks on the theme of ‘Mending Broken Hearts.’ The Mending Broken Hearts Appeal is one of the most important fundraising efforts ever undertaken by the British Heart Foundation. Its goal is simple; to raise £50 million to fund the research that could literally “mend the broken hearts” of millions. The Wendy J Levy Gallery is delighted to host this extraordinary art exhibition* by some of the most influential artists of our time.
The ‘Mending Broken Hearts Appeal’ is original in several ways; firstly because the artists have been asked not just to donate a piece of their work, but to create a new piece specifically for the cause. Secondly, these artworks will not simply be sold to raise funds for research, but will also become icons for the appeal in 2011. The original artworks have been produced as original silkscreen prints in a limited edition. It is the first time these leading British artists have been in one portfolio together, making the silkscreens truly unique and highly collectable. The artists have been given completely free-rein in what they produce, as long as it is inspired by Mending Broken Hearts. The result is a collection of original limited edition silkscreens that, while based on a shared concept, reflects the diversity and personal style of each of the artists.
Within the ‘Breath of Life’ portfolio is a truly remarkable group of high profile artists: Sir Peter Blake RA, Maurice Cockrill RA, Duggie Fields, Maggi Hambling CBE, Gerard Hemsworth, John Hoyland RA, Patrick Hughes, Bruce McLean, Antony Micallef, Brendan Neiland, Tom Phillips RA CBE, Barbara Rae RA CBE, Rob Ryan, Storm Thorgerson, Brad Faine and the late Donald Hamilton Fraser RA.
The Wendy J Levy gallery has been allocated ONLY TWO COPIES of each image and works can either be purchased individually or as a complete set in a portfolio titled ‘Breath of Life.’ The portfolio of the complete collection can be purchased for a special launch price of £10,000 (including VAT), or pieces range individually from £500 - £1,500.
