Cavendish Primary School

Welcome to Cavendish Community Primary School. Cavendish is a family orientated, multi cultural school in West Didsbury with a vibrant, happy and purposeful atmosphere. We encourage every member of our school community to do the very best that they can in everything that they do.

We work hard to create a learning environment which strives for excellence and which celebrates the achievements of all members of our school community. We recognise the importance of developing the whole child so that each individual pupil can grow up able to make a positive contribution to the society in which they live. Developing an appreciation of the world around us, a sound knowledge of right and wrong, acknowledging the importance of good manners, understanding the value of strong relationships and learning to value others, and their contribution, is as important as achieving high academic standards. The ethos of our school actively supports our children to achieve in all these areas. We provide opportunities for children to develop a range of skills within a broad and balanced curriculum, and provide many opportunities for them to take part in sporting, musical and creative activities after school. We offer childcare from 8am to 6pm as part of our extended school provision.

In some ways we have a traditional outlook on life! We expect our children to come to school on time each day ready to work hard and to behave themselves. We expect children to enhance the education of their peers by listening carefully and attentively, and working quietly and sensibly. We expect children to make the most the opportunities that they are being offered, both in the classroom and outside it. We expect children to behave in ways that does not hurt, frighten or humiliate a member of our school community. We generally find that, because these are our expectations, the children respond accordingly.

We aim to work in partnership with parents/carers and families because we believe that this enables children to make excellent progress in all areas.
