Making a meal of it with Rhubarb Restaurant, West Didsbury

Rhubarb Restaurant on Burton Road, West Didsbury is well renowned for its cuisine. Opened in 2002, by husband and wife team, Mark and Lisa Ramsden, it’s gone from strength to strength. Nightly, it’s packed out – we do sometimes watch, rather enviously, as people dine, while we’re across the road working!

However, Rhubarb isn’t just about evening dining. Yes, you can make a real night of it and really push the boat out. We’ve been to a few celebrations here and Lisa and her front of house team really know how to make an occasion special. But, Rhubarb is also a great destination at the weekend. Now open on Saturday afternoons, from 1pm, you can stop for a leisurely brunch style meal with the new mezze/tapas menu - perfect as you stroll through West Didsbury taking in our gorgeous independent shops, bars and boutiques.

Sunday Lunch is also a real winner at Rhubarb Restaurant. With a really mouth-watering menu, you can dine here much less expensively than you probably realise. With the two course meal for £14.95 per person or three courses for £15.95 – and each child under 10 accompanied by an adult can eat free – you can actually have a three course Sunday Lunch (excluding drinks) for just over £30.00 for a family of four. With locally sourced British beef, a giant Yorkshire pudding, crisp roasted potatoes and garden fresh vegetables, it’s another one of those occasions when you do wonder if it’s worth turning on the oven at home. And of course, you don’t have to do the washing up!

Rhubarb is currently offering a competition on Didsbury Life, where you have the chance to win a complimentary Family Sunday Lunch – just click here to enter - http://tinyurl.com/35s5kxd And, even if you don’t win on this occasion, you can still treat the family to a fabulous Sunday Lunch, knowing that you’re getting the real Rhubarb deal, at a fantastic price.

The restaurant will soon also be hopefully cooking with rhubarb sourced from the developing community garden at Thyme Out Delicatessen on Nell Lane. Rather than waste good produce, we’ve decided that wherever possible, we’ll donate appropriate produce to appropriate local businesses. And who better to take the surplus rhubarb, than our very own West Didsbury gem, Rhubarb Restaurant?
