PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS (Ref: 2003070-consult-0001) WOULD INCLUDE :

Resurfacing the footway outside the shops on Burton Road and Lapwing Lane, West Didsbury, and by agreement, some of the shop forecourts.

Kerb build outs positioned at the side road junctions of Vicker Grove and Orchard Street, moving forward the give way lines, improving visibility, and creating parking bays along the west side of Burton Road. This will also increase the level of parking space available.

The provision of a build out bus stop on the west side of Burton Road, creating a safe access point for passengers boarding and alighting buses. It will also reduce the length of kerbside space taken up by the bus stop, increasing the space for parked vehicles in the enlarged parking bay.

The narrowing of the carriageway at the existing pelican crossing, providinga safel ead in to the parking bays.

The upgrading of the existing pelican crossing to a puffin crossing, providing improved crossing assistance.

Minor changes to the waiting restrictions along Burton Road intended to complement the proposed improvements, including the reduction of 24 hour waiting restrictions to allow for the increased lengths of the exising limited waiting parking bays.

The introduction of 24 hour waiting restrictions around the junctions of Vicker Grove on the west side, and Montrose Avenue, Beaufort Avenue and No 11 Passage on the east side of Burton Road, to enable clear visibility and safer access to the side roads.

The provision of a "taxi rank" on Lapwing Lane adjacent to The Metropolitan, able to cater for 3-4 taxis.

New greener LED street lighting lanterns.

The provision of three trees.

Replacement street furniture including bins and a cycle stand.

Please note, that other than those waiting restrictions proposed at the above junctions, the exising waiting restrictions on the west side of Burton road will only change in length.
