Souvenir d'Anne Frank - World Premiere - Zion Centre

The world premiere of 'Souvenir d’Anne Frank', a new music and theatre work from theatre company Ensemble, will open at Zion Arts Centre, Hulme on Friday 27th January at 7.30pm, as part of Manchester’s Holocaust Memorial Day commemorations.

The show tells the stories of Anne Frank, in her own words from her famous Diary, and of the ‘Souvenir d’Anne Frank’ rose, in Japan. This beautiful rose, created to commemorate Anne, was sent to Japan, by her father, Otto, after the war, as a gift to a young Japanese girl. Roses grafted from this original rose now bloom at Hiroshima and Nagasaki and all over Japan, a national symbol of peace and reconciliation. In ‘Souvenir d’Anne Frank’, the music of piano, violin and cello, played live onstage, weaves through poetry, performance and song to tell these moving and inspiring stories in a unique and fascinating way.

The life of Anne Frank and the legacy of her Diary, printed in 67 different languages and selling more than 31 million copies, has inspired people all over the world. The premiere of ‘Souvenir d’Anne Frank’ will be one of Manchester’s main events taking place on Holocaust Memorial Day, paying respect to the memory of the millions murdered in the Holocaust and subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur and challenging hatred and persecution in the UK today.

Performances will be on Friday 27th January and Saturday 28th January at 7.30pm, Friday 3rd February at 1.00pm and Saturday 4th February at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £10.00 (£5.00 concessions)
