Cracking Good Food Chorlton - Cookery Workshops

Cracking Good Food Chorlton - Cookery Workshops

Following a number of successful events over the summer, including a fantastic response to the first round of cookery classes, Cracking Good Food is pleased to announce a new run of sessions for local residents to sign up to in September and October.

The Chorlton-based cooking network brings together local residents with experienced chefs who can help them develop their cookery skills and expand their recipe repertoire. Individuals and groups of friends or family learn how to rustle up simple, delicious and affordable dishes together, then everyone sits down to eat the feast they’ve made.

Each one-off three-hour class costs just £15, or £10 concessions, thanks to funding from the Local Food Fund (National Lottery), The Co-operative Membership and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.

Places are limited to 12 to give everyone a go at prepping and cooking, and so everyone has the chance to ask plenty of questions.

Classes take place every Saturday from 11 September, and run between 11am and 2pm in the well-equipped food technology rooms at Chorlton High School on Nell Lane.

The first six sessions are in conjunction with Chorlton’s Unicorn Grocery:

Gluten-free treats (with Fernanda of Unicorn): Saturday 11 September

Seasonal roots and squashes (with Unicorn’s Nina): Saturday 18 September

Great Bakes (with Richard from Unicorn): Saturday 25 September

Tasty Tofu and Tempeh (with Unicorn’s Lorenzo): Saturday 2 October

Use Your Loaf! (with Cracking Cook Rob): Saturday 9 October (starting at 10.30am

Mexican Tapas (with Fernanda): Saturday 16 October

Other events on the menu for autumn are a Cooks On The Hop stir-fry outside Unicorn on Saturday 4 September (12-4pm); a wild food forage and feast on the Ees with local herbalist and guest Cracking Cook Jesper Launder on Sunday 5 September (2-5pm), and a special cook-up at Glebelands City Growers in Sale on Sunday 12 September (2-5pm).

Details of the Cracking Good Food classes from Saturday 23 October will be confirmed soon, and will include four weeks of Christmas baking and caking.

Special dietary requirements can easily be catered for and bookings are taken online at http://crackinggoodfood.org/when-and-where or in person at Hickson & Black’s deli in Chorlton.
