Grand Re-Launch of The Albert Club, West Didsbury

After quite a hectic time refurbishing, The Albert Club throws open its doors on Saturday 13th June. Come along and join in the fun!

Over the past year, a lot of hard work has gone into the re-development of The Albert Club including:

- the rejuvenation of the tennis courts to ensure the all-weather surface lasts another few years

- a sharpening up the social calendar with frequent events to suit all tastes

- attracting an extra 100 members, through local publicity and a hugely successful Open Day

- redesigning and refurbishing the club entrance - inside and outside

- refurnishing the patio area to make an attractive outside social area for the summer months

- introducing a rolling 12-month membership scheme

- reintroducing membership cards

- redesigning the bar counter and relocating the beer taps to make it more attractive for members

- introducing a debit/credit card payment facility

- installing new external illuminated notice boards for tennis and general notices

- improving the standard of the bowling green and its surroundings, thanks to Peter our new groundsman

- replacingand modernising the audio system in the lounge area

- introducing a regular premium beer

- replacing the club’s alarm system and introduced external CCTV

- decorating the lounge area with a range of pictures and documents from the club’s archive

- arresting the alarming slump in bar sales that followed last year’s smoking ban

- hatching plans for a major clubhouse redevelopment which, with your support, will start in 2009

Now The Albert Club is ready to celebrate, with the completion of the final piece of the jigsaw - the interior redecoration - with the Grand Opening on Saturday 13th June. Members and hopefully future members, will be able to experience target bowling, a tombola, cake stall, book stall, raffle, cream teas and a free prize draw! The fun will begin at about 2 o'clock and will run on into the night with music from Pressure Drop Disco.
